Hi. Is there a name for the fasting insulin test? Is it a blood test? What results would we be looking for (is there a range)? Thanks!

    • Insulin can be measured as a “fasting insulin level” or some labs do a “HOMA score” which includes fasting glucose with fasting insulin levels. Lab ranges of normal may vary slightly but ideally one wants a fasting insulin level < 8. Lower is better. Thanks for listening to the Health edge! Mark

Yet another great Podcast guys, TY! Mark, do you have a favorite ‘Home’ testing device, or even a Home kit from a lab?
    Tx again

        Thanks Mark,
Realizing my question didn’t mention Insulin level evaluation, sorry.
To re-state, what are your favorite labs to test Fasting Insulin levels, and might there be a ‘home kit’ pr perhaps even a home/office device for that purpose?
        Thank you,
        Eric
