One thought on “The Health Edge: Common Nutrient Deficiencies

This is invaluable info that is so hard to get one’s arms around. I’m going to listen to this podcast again. It helps me a lot to have some general guidelines for my lifestyle, like eat liver once a week (interesting to learn lamb’s liver is optimal). At your program in Costa Rica, John, you said dark green leafy vegetables are excellent sources of potassium and magnesium and should be eaten at every meal, and I have done that ever since.

For some of us, polymorphisms hugely limit the nutrients we end up with in the active form. I ran my 23andme raw data through an app on FoundMyFitness and learned, for example, that I don’t convert precursors to the active forms of Vitamin A (retinol) and D very effectively. I have to take special steps to “work around” these limitations.

Thanks so much for the education about this important topic.
